Ian and Mark,

Just after I responded to the first posting concerning pristine World War II
aircraft, I recalled the B-29 frozen in a lake in Canada a few years ago.
Some guys from San Diego went up and mined the ice, exposed the huge plane,
raised it, and readied it for take off. One of those guys died from a heart
attack from the physical stress. Then, they all revved up the machine and
started to taxi down the runway. The age, metal fatigue, and rotted hydraulic
hoses caused the B-29 to shatter in place. Those guys left the wreckage to
eventually sink back into the lake.
