ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPUTING SPECIALIST
JAMESTOWN REDISCOVERY
The APVA Jamestown Rediscovery Archaeological Project at Jamestown Island ,
Virginia is seeking applications for a full-time salaried ARCHAEOLOGICAL
COMPUTING SPECIALIST. The applicant will be responsible for maintaining
computer systems to record, analyze and present the on-going Jamestown
Rediscovery excavations. More specifically, duties include the maintenance
and development of database applications for storing diverse archaeological
data to be integrated with geographic site data to form a context-level
GIS. The current program includes AutoCAD 14, ArcView,3.2, Surfer, Microsoft
Access, Excel, and Foxpro (Re-Discovery Database). Duties also include
presentations in a variety of formats including maintaining and updating
of the project internet site (WWW.APVA.ORG) , field report layout and a
yearly publication of full color booklet requiring working knowledge of
Photoshop, Pagemaker, and Illustrator or comparable programs. Applicants
may also be called on occasionally for field work at Jamestown or related
sites. Therefore the position also requires at least two years of field
experience in British Colonial/ Early American historical archaeology.
M.A. preferred.
Salary : $30,000 PLUS BENEFITS
