Strikes me as an odd choice. Not that I can think of many great piano
recordings from the 80s offhand.
Well, there's Dononhoe's Busoni Concerto - OK, not solo piano. Ogdon's
extraordinary 4CD set of Sorabji's Opus Clavicembalisticum? Gilels'
Hammerklavier and Op.109? Michelangeli's Brahms Ballades?
I'd prefer all of those to CK's Beethoven 9.
