A friend of a friend plays in a concert band and has been asked to make a
set of tubular bells because it's beyond the band's resources to buy them.
The following paraphrases the email he sent me. He needs to know:

The metal used, (he's considering aluminium (aka aluminum) as being cheaper
than brass), the diameter and wall thickness of the tubing. The usual
compass of the instrument and the placement of that compass e.g. C2 to F3
(as per Premier) or C3 to F4. The length of any bell (he has a formula to
establish other lengths). The purpose of the striking caps and whether the
cap affects the pitch of the bell. Any reference books or websites which
may be useful.

Please respond privately.
