Requirements:
                                OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Historian and
Preservationist Administrator I (Cultural Resource Manager).  The position
is located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley at Staunton, Virginia.  Plan,
direct and administer regional cultural resource program involving
archaeology, architectural history and historic engineering.  Apply advanced
cultural resource management principles and techniques in the intra- and
inter-agency coordination of VA Department of Transportation (VDOT)
projects.  Ensure that VDOT projects comply with federal and state
environmental laws, regulations, policies and procedures.  Selected
candidate will be an essential employee during emergency operations, which
requires working outside normal office hours, and will use the VOIS computer
system.

                                Qualifications: Knowledge of state and
federal laws, regulations and procedures as they relate to cultural
resources.  Knowledge of archaeological and/or architectural history method
and theory.  Demonstrated ability to design, conduct and oversee cultural
resource studies.  MS Office or similar computer skills.  Prefer graduate
degree in anthropology, archaeology, architectural history, preservation
planning, or related discipline (Federal Register 48:44738-44739; 36 CFR
Part 61), or equivalent training/education and experience.  Hiring Range
$38,163 - $65,540 or negotiable based on training and experience. Driving
required; DMV check.
