Please excuse my venting but I have had it with experts who label a
perfectly normal desire for closeness, comfort, and security with
pathology!!! The Contra Costa Times is a paper in my area, although the
response comes from the Carolinas
http://www.contracostatimes.com/health/columnists/rosemond/stories/x18rose_20010418.htm
I left my pediatrician, whom I had selected because I had worked with
him, knew he was competent, was the only 'developmental' pediatrician in
the area when he told me how to get my 6 month old nursing daughter to
sleep through the night. The old tough it out stance - which he had to
do with his daughter. The first night, he explained proudly, his
daughter cried for FOUR hours. Of course, his ER doc wife was more of a
basket case than his daughter and he had to treat her with valium. But
the second night was ONLY two hours and less valium.
Lock a four year old child out of the bedroom?? I'd call CPS!!
Too furious to write a coherent letter to the Contra Costa Times right
now,
