Greetings all,
I still cant get over that it is almost the middle of January, and here
in St. Louis, the daytime temps are pushing 60 degrees! I noticed the maple
tree buds are beginning to swell! Wont be long I guess.
There have been lots of posts on letting a split rear their own queen.
I tend to believe that this is a good practice usually, especially if you
have an outstanding queen. What I was wondering is this. Will a 4 frame
nuc create a good queen, or are they just too small and weak to do the job?
I want to increase this year, but dont want to weaken any hive too much, and
would prefer to start the hives from nucs.
Thanks all!
Scott
