On another forum there was some controversy over Lang Lang's debut CD,
with the vast majority finding it very disappointing at best.  Yet, at
Carnegie Hall, critics and audience apparently went crazy over his Grieg
concerto.  Some opined that it must all be hype and reaction to hype.
One even thought that the NY Times might have been 'bought' in essence.
A friend sent me an audience recording of it, and I put the cadenza from
that on a server for comparison purposes during the discussion.  I added
a bit from the 3rd mvmt as we were also listening to an unknown live
version by Michelangeli and this was included for another comparison of the
different approaches.  If interested in hearing the Lang Lang snippets (I'm
not a fan, just interested in the gap between the reception to his Grieg
Concerto and to his solo CD), they're at
