The only opera that I recall being presented in Jefferson City, MO, during
the ten years I worked there (some of which overlapped Ashcroft's extremely
unpopular term as governor ("John Ashcroft is my shepherd, I shall always
want....") was "Barber of Seville" (and that by a Kansas City company on
the road). Not a place to be deluged with "high" culture.
