I think I can answer that. Brilliant Classics is the label, released
by a large Dutch chain of drugstores. They once started by rereleasing
abandoned CD's, but now they release more and more new recordings, often
by Dutch musicians. The CD's are extremely cheap, but they still make a
profit by selling enormous amounts of them. The Austbo Grieg is pretty
good, Austbo is a Norwegian pianist, living in the Netherlands, he also
recorded a 3 CD box of music by Satie, the complete Scriabin sonatas (both
on Brilliant). They also brought out the complete Dvorak, Shostakowitsch,
Schubert and Mendelssohn Symphonies, as well as the complete Brahms
chambermusic, the (nearly) complete Chopin, all the Schubert pianosonatas
a box with 6 CD's of Schubert songs, the Saint-Sa=EBns pianoconcertos
(Tacchino), The pianosonatas by Prokoffief and Shos (McLachlan), the
complete pianomusic by Ravel and Debussy, a 6 CD box with 20th century
pianists, the complete Bach cantatas, keybord music (Belder, harpsichord),
chamber music and orchestral music, the Bizet orchestral music, American
composers and Strawinski, and at the moment they are bringing out the
COMplete Mozart, which this week reached volume 11 (keybord music). I
buy everything they release, I am nearly always satisfied, you cannot go
wrong for a couple of bucks (Euros in my case), the 10 CD box of Mozart
KEYbord music was only EUR 14!!! You can also order by mail, they are
fast and reliable, but I do not know if they also take orders from abroad.
Look at WWW.kruidvat.nl I forgot they also released a 40 CD bos of Vivaldi
and Handel, which I did not buy.And a lot of Beethoven, whom I hate!!
Recommended!!!
