Not sure if I missed something here, but as I recall reading the article as it appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer, the babies of breastfeeding African American women were singled out (as at risk for rickets) becuase of the inherent difficulty of absorbing vitamin D from sunlight with darker skin.
