Ray Bay confessed and queried:

>I never listen to the music of any composer who's name I am
>afraid to pronounce.

I do all the time. I just don't talk about it.

>So how do you pronounce Buxtehude?

My pronunciation has always been: BOOX-teh-hoo'-duh

Primary stress on the first syllable; secondary stress on the third.
I sometimes slip into "BUKS-teh-hoo'-duh," but nobody's taken me to task
over it...yet. And I've never made the error (or, in social situations,
the faux pas) of mispronouncing Fux.
