Thank you for the information. I was dismayed that I had posted an earlier
copy of that message as I posted a similar one at the Yahoo Group
"grandmananisland" (New Brunswick) where my grandfather Lawrence G Urquhart
was from and where I still have kin, some today from Nova Scotia and in the
past from Pictou, NS.
Mr. Robert David Lyon Gardiner, an octogenarian, is very active in the
preservation of Gardiners Island and the Sagitikos Manor on Long Island. His
ancestor was once Senator from New York, killed in explosion on the USS
Princeton, in a firing of the "Peacemaker" (cast on the westside of
Manhattan at the Haddersley Forge, under the proposed Donald Trump
development "TV City") in salute to George Washington's Mount Vernon on the
Potomac River. His daughter Julia Gardiner became First Lady marrying then
President Tyler, both of whom were below decks at the time of the explosion.
Former President Tyler went on to head Richmond, Virginia during the Civil
War and died at a hotel there, his wife crossed back into New York when both
sides ceased hostilities in respect for the mourning former First Lady, said
to have been the "prettiest" of all First Ladies.
