"Le Beau Charles" delivered some of the most exciting live performances
I've ever heard in forty years of concert going.  I recall vividly a '62
La Valse that raised the roof in Symphony Hall!  From the same season, a
Brahms First that I have never heard equaled, with phenomenal brass playing
of white heat intensity.
