I have come across a resource which I hope will be useful to anybody
wanting to dip into classical music and find out what appeals and what
does not:

It has sound samples, and a wide range of music across all periods.  (Maybe
my license fee is being well spent after all!)

I hope Peggy Lucero and others starting to build up "their" list will find
it as intriguing as I did.
