Defying the curse of come-and-gone on new operas, Jake Heggie's "Dead Man
Walking" is not only being performed beyond the walls of the commissioning
San Francisco Opera, it is getting a new production when it appears on
Opera Pacific's next season, in the Orange County Performing Arts Center,
April 16-21. The PBS documentary about producing the world premiere, "And
Then One Night...," will be telecast in Northern California, on KQED, at 6
p.m., on Sept. 23, and nationally on Jan. 14.

Heggie's new song cycle, "The Moon Is a Mirror," will be premiered by Bryn
Terfel on a world tour, from Vienna (with the Philharmonic) on Sept. 17,
to the Barbican in London in January, with Taipei, Hong Kong and Singapore
in-between.
