Paul Silverthorne:

>[... ]no-one has mentioned Roberto Gerhard's Zodiac works

I did, but, sorry, I didn't give a collective name, only "Gemini" "Leo" and
"Libra". Are there any others?

Deryk Barker quotes me and asks:

>Wasn't there a piece by David Bedford?

I don't know but he is a quite starry composer:

For orchestra:
Star's end (1974) (rock star??)

For chorus and orchestra:
Dream of the 7 Lost Stars (1964-5)
Star Clusters, Nebulae and Places in Devon (1971)

For voices and instruments:
The Tentacles of the Dark Nebula (1969)
When I heard the learn'd Astronomer (1972)

Is the Van Gogh here? Susan Juhl mentioned Allan Hovhaness's "Vision
of a Starry Night" which may also be related. Is it?

(Bedford on sun and moon:
Sun paints rainbow on the vast waves (1982) for orchestra
12 Hours of Sunset (1974) for chorus and orchestra
Music for Albion Moonlight (1965) for soprano)

This time I don't know the works I cite, and now I'm curious. Bedford
is a composer whose work is never seen in the shops here. The internet
is the only solution... Could someone guide my steps?

Regards,

Christine Labroche
