Incidentally, Placido Domingo who is now Artistic Director of the Los
Angeles Opera, will also sing the role of the compulsive gambler 'Herman'
in Tchiakovsky's 'Pique Dame' (The Queen of Spades), beginning Sept.
4th for the first 5 performances only.  This also marks the very first
production in the history of the company (founded in 1986) of an Opera
sung in Russian.
