If I have this situation, I ask the physician for current literature or
research studies to prove this or her theory... of course they never provide
it, but at least I hope it makes them stop and think. I have one
pediatrician that I currently work with who likes to have bf moms supply
with formula if baby becomes jaundiced. I will supply mom with a full set of
recent info on bf and jaundice and warn her of what he is likely to do and
she can make her own opinion. I have also supplied this physician with up
to the date info on this, and I just got a copy of Lawrence Gartners work on
jaundice and bf and I will give him that too. I just leave it in his
mailbox on our unit, he knows who it comes from, but he will argue with me
till the end on this, I wont argue my point anymore as it is a waste of my
time and makes me so angry, I try to educate the family first and go from
there, if thefamily does supplement , then I encourage them to use a dropper
or syringe. SIGHHHH

Cindy
