HI: I previously emailed my history to you but thought I would post it
since I am enjoying reading other peoples' experiences and thought others
might enjoy reading mine. Here I add a couple of things that I didn't have
in the original email, ie, what happened with my first and my current
baby's age.

Hi:

I would like to respond to your survey out of my own experience...I
currently have five children. My first child was weaned prematurely at 5
months one week due to bad advice from a health care professional
attempting to help me with post partum anxiety(said I needed to wean and
take medication...AAUUGGHH....I still grieve that one....but what do you
know the first time around??)My second child was born when my first was 2
years, nine months (but obviously not nursing) I was nursing #2 when I
became pregnant with #3. #2 was 19 months old at the time and was about 28
months when #3 was born. He never stopped nursing during this or my next
pregnancy, which occurred when #2 was 3 years and 4 months old, and # 3 was
12 1/2 months. They both nursed during the entire fourth pregnancy. After
#4 was born (when #2 was 4 years 1 month and #3 was 21 months) I ended up
pumping for my sister in law who had also just had a baby and had a crisis
situation with what turned out to be a true case of lactation "failure"
(she only made about 2 ounces of milk at a time, even with interventions).
So at that time it became difficult to nurse 3 and pump for one, so we
weaned # 2 at 4 1/2 years old. Numbers #3 and 4 were still nursing when I
became pregnant with #5. #3 was 3 years 5 months old when I got pregnant
with #5, and #4 was 20 months old. They both weaned during this pregnancy,
with number 3 being 3 years 9 months and #4 being 24 months old. I don't
know if it is of any significance, but my first four children are boys and
#5 was a girl. I don't know if my milk dried up more completely or what,
but they both weaned on their own. I tried hard to get #4 to nurse again 4
months later when the baby was born, but he never went back. #5 is now 13
1/2 months old and of course, still nursing.

This seems pretty confusing to me, but if it helps you out, I'm glad! I'd
be interested in the results of your survey.

Regards,

Betsy Koval
