JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
SUMMER POSITIONS -- Cultural Resources Interns
MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
CULTURAL RESOURCES SECTION

Several full-time, temporary positions will be available this summer with the
Missouri Department of Transportation's Cultural Resources Section.  The
employment period will be from May through August 2001.  The positions require
completion of at least one year of college with course work in history,
anthropology/archaeology, architectural history, historic preservation, or
related disciplines.  Duties will focus on archaeological fieldwork, which will
include background research, Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III investigations;
preparation and analysis of artifacts; and collection and preparation of data
required for the evaluation of historic structures.  One of these positions will
be laboratory-oriented, which will include the cleaning and analysis of
artifacts and the preparation of older collections for curation (please specify
if you are interested in the laboratory position).

The Cultural Resources Section of MoDOT is based in Jefferson City, the state's
capital.  Frequent travel, using state-owned vehicles, within the state of
Missouri is required.  Employees will need to have sufficient funds to cover
travel expenses (meals and lodging) until they are reimbursed around the middle
of the following month.  Safety toe boots meeting ANSI Standard C-75 will be
needed for some job tasks.  Wages will vary from $7.00 to $10.00 hourly, based
on education and experience.
