Sounds like they have too many archaeologists offering screens to the FBI.

Not exactly.   Information on the archaeologist volunteer effort, as well as a signup form, can be found at the SAA's website:

IF the FBI decides to use archaeologists, it would be to sift through debris from the WTC that has been transported to Fresh Kill landfill in Staten Island.
