Donald Satz asked:

>What discs devoted to Francaix do you recommend?

What about his one serious major work, the oratorio The Apocalypse of St.
John? Supposedly when Francaix was asked to write such a long compositon,
he demurred at first but then agreed as long as it could be "gentle, French
and gay." To the surprise of his critics, the work turned out to be both
magnificent and inspiring. Has anyone heard it and can comment?
