My duo has toured for years using two of Gottschalk's pieces for piano
duet (i. e., one piano four hands): _The Banana Tree_ and _Orfa_. They
are light salon pieces, short, and beautifully written. Certainly not at
the level of Schubert's _F-Minor Fantasy_, but worth playing, nonetheless.
Eugene List, who was our friend and mentor, and responsible for our
pursuing a career as a piano duo, championed the works of Gottschalk. He
also recorded a good number of his pieces, including the _Grand Tarantella_
for piano and orchestra.

Best,

Leslie Kinton
