Follow-Up:
Sometime ago there was some talk about SHA holding an
annual meeting in Puerto Rico. I wonder if by now there is a large enough
historical archaeology community there (NPS, Government of Puerto Rico,
the universities, CRM firms etc.) to more seriously think about inviting
SHA to the island in the future? What a wonderful venue for January. I
have flown through but have never visited - Old San Juan, the rainforest
(Taino sites) in the mountians, Ponce on the south coast etc. etc. etc.
Might use such a location to urge our Latin American colleagues to come
"up" and join us.

                Just an idea.

P.S. A meeting in Panama would be just as good but unfortunately the cost
of airtickets would probably preclude such a venue - or would it? Are there
any special deals into Panama via the West Indies?
