Pianist Jeffrey Biegel to Perform Ellen Taaffe Zwilich's Millennium Fantasy
for Piano and Orchestra at California's Music in the Mountains Festival -
June 29 Performance is West Coast Premiere of Consortium Commissioned Work

New York, NY - The American pianist Jeffrey Biegel will present the
California and West Coast Premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen
Taaffe Zwilich's Millennium Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra on Friday, June
29, 2001 with California's Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra, led
by Music Director Paul Perry.  The concert will begin at 8 PM at the Amaral
Family Festival Center in the Nevada County Fairgrounds, 11228 McCourtney
Rd, Grass Valley, CA.  This is presented as part of Summer Fest 2001.

The Millennium Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra was commissioned in 1999
for Jeffrey Biegel by a consortium of 26 orchestras in 25 states across
the country, from the Bangor (Maine) Symphony to Music in the Mountains.
Premiered by the Cincinnati Symphony in September of 2000, the work will
be performed many more times in the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons.  For

This concert will also include Mozart's Symphony No.  40 in G minor, K.550,
arias from American composer Carlisle Floyd's opera Susannah, selections
from Aaron Copland's Old American Songs, and Beethoven's Fantasie in C
minor, Opus 80 for Piano, Soloists, Chorus & Orchestra, with Mr.  Biegel
at the piano, along with soloists and the Festival Chorale and Orchestra.

The Music in the Mountains Festivals promotes and produces live classical
music.  Their critically acclaimed festivals offer chamber music, major
orchestral works, choral masterpieces, and outstanding soloists and
ensembles.  They present the full spectrum of "classical music" by
including pops, jazz, big band, and Broadway music in their repertoire.
Chamber concerts feature cabaret-style seating around candlelit tables.
