The Alessandro Striggio who wrote the libretto for Monteverdi's 'Orfeo'
(and no other Monteverdi libretto AFAIK) was born in 1573, the son of
the composer of the same name.  He is sometimes referred to as Alessandro
Striggio The Younger, and was a lifelong friend of Monteverdi.  He seems
to have provided more than one ending for 'Orfeo'.  The 'Orfeo' libretto
was based on a 'Euridice' by Rinuccini, who of course did provide other
libretti for M.

Bits of Striggio jnr.'s libretto were used by Berio for his 'Opera'.
