I was not at all dismissing Mosely's idea, I was simply stating that there
are other reasons for widely dispersed plant colonies that have nothing to
do with man. I made no mention of the cases I presented as being the cause
of human activity, and my whole intent is that man may have had nothing to
do with it. As for cactus in Maine, someone should have told our dog that
what he found on Cadillac Mountain near Acadia was not a cactus. I must
admit I cannot assure it was a prickly pear, but it was indeed a cactus.
You would suppose after crossing a porcupine at Selkerk Shores he would
have known better, but who knew plants bit too?
