I would second these recomendations. Richter's set on Olympia especially.
My favorite is Schnabel in the 958,959,960. Also Rubinstein in the 960.
Ashkenazy and Schiff are wonderful in the early Schubert sonatas. Of
course one can never go wrong with Brendel. Curzon and Kempff were great
Schubertians as well. I was disappointed with Pollini's recording of the
later sonatas; a little cold and too technical.
