Probably both because, as far as I know, Ansermet picked most of the
players.  And who knows what else was involved? I'm no expert on the
state of Swiss musicians at that time.  (Or any time.) They did make some
marvelous recordings, though.  And the recording(s?) Ansermet made with the
Philharmonia were very nice.
