I wondered how familiar the listpeople are with music from the Gustavian
time in Sweden (around 1770-1800). In a discussion I was involved in
recently upon the topic of Literate Quality of Opera Librettos, I just had
to mention those operas by Kraus and Haeffner, which had texts by Johan
Henrik Kjellgren. Now his writing was indeed a call for the God himself!
I listened amazed some years back to Haeffners "Elektra" live when I went
to the opera during my holidays in Mid-Sweden.
The gustavian music was indeed a branch on the tree of music which should
have been allowed to continue to grow!
