Carl Banner is a geneticist at the National Institutes of Health outside of
Washington DC. He is also the founder and pianist of the Washington Musica
Viva chamber music ensemble that performs 7-8 concerts each season at the
BannerArts Studio and the Czech Embassy in Washington DC.
Carl has written a couple brief articles about the founding and running
of WMV with some observations about survival skills of non-profit arts
organizations, the funding conundrum, difficulties in securing a venue,
musical programming, and the preconceptions of musicians and artists.
