(playing can be uneven, interpretations are usually engaging). Szell.
Historic Mahler 4 with Mengelberg. Horenstein (#1 and #3--NOT #6). Levine
and Haenchen are good in parts. I am less enthused by Solti, Haitink,
Abbado, and most of Bernstein (his #7 with New York is great!). (Note that
I am far more interested in performance than sonics.) These should do for
startes.
