Somewhat off the thread, but maybe of interest.  My grandmother's everyday
"kitchen" set of dishes in Boston was the Wedgwood 1895 series of historical
views. These were western views such as California missions, the Minnesota
College of Mines, etc.  I have filled in with others bought at several
different places in California, and these are all views of Boston.  I realize
that the Boston scenes found in California may just be a coincidence, plates
brought here by easterners, but it is worth considering whether stores on
both coasts were then marketing the more exotic views to their customers.
Or, whether consumer preference was a factor in their selections.
