****** CALL FOR PAPERS *******

Apologies to those who work outside the California area . . . .

We are currently seeking participants for the following proposed session
on "Historical Material Culture in California Archaeology" at the upcoming
Society for California Archaeology meetings (March 23-25, 2001 in Modesto,
California). See http://www.scanet.org/meetings.html.

SYMPOSIUM TITLE:

Historical Material Culture in California Archaeology

ORGANIZERS AND CHAIRS:

Amy Ramsay, Stephen Silliman, and Barbara Voss

SYMPOSIUM ABSTRACT:

"In this symposium, presenters address the central theme of how
archaeological studies of historical material culture can be used to
address important research questions in California archaeology. Papers
range from studies of individual artifact types to broader discussions of
material culture patterning at archaeological sites, and they cover a
broad array of historical periods. A discussion period following the
presentations will allow presenters and symposium attendees to address
themes and issues that connect the individual presentations."

DETAILS:

If you are interested in possibly submitting a paper abstract, please
contact us with a quick note ASAP so that we can begin to fill in the
tentative symposium roster. We will need the full title and abstract (100

program deadline at the end of December. If you know someone who mght be
interested in this session topic, please feel free to forward this
