Alabama is looking for a few good (historical) archaeologists.

The state archaeologist is currently looking for an assistant and I hope to
be hiring someone in the future to work with me at the Old Cahawba
Archaeological Park. A description of the current job opening can be found
below my address line. In the future, I will be looking for someone who has
experience working with the public interpreting archaeology in new and
creative ways. Both of us will be forced to hire off an employment list
that is being created RIGHT NOW!

So, if you think you might need a job now OR IN THE FUTURE, or if you know
someone who might be job hunting within the next year or so, please go, or
instruct your friend to go, to the following web page and take a few minutes
to fill out a form. Getting on this list does NOT commit you to the
current job. However, in the near future, we will not be able to hire
anyone that is not on this list.

(and remember, cost of living is LOW here, so the pay range is pretty darn
good if you consider that aspect - plus retirement, health plan, 13 paid
holidays, vacation and sick leave. For example, I bought a very lovely
1915 bungalow in a historic district for a mere $50,000) So, if you are
ready to give up the "on the road" CRM life, settle down, enjoy 13 paid
holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, and a good retirement plan, consider
Alabama. Plus, the resources are pretty exciting here for H.A. types.

Please go to www.personnel.state.al.us/ and look under Continuous Job
List, 30445 Archaeologist, Senior. The register is now open and accepting
applications. You can down load the application from the web site and
submit it to the Personnel Dept. They do accept faxes. Please submit as
soon as possible.
