Over the years, I've managed to hear most of Beethoven's output but for
some reason, I've never bothered with the string trios. A 2-CD set on DG
containing the four string trios (Opp 3 and 9) and the Serenade Op 8 was
on special recently and has been spending a lot of time in my CD player.
I find this music hugely enjoyable and wish I'd discovered it sooner.
I know this is a cliche and the question may well be rhetorical but I'll
ask anyway: Why aren't the string trios better known?
