I've been eyeing Davitt Moroney's French Suites on Virgin Veritas. Gram
likes them, but Donald Satz found some moments gratifying and other moments
difficult to live with. So now, after living with this set for awhile Don,
have you found that the rocky moments in your relationship were more "you?"
or more "Davitt?"
As an avowed post-Romanticophile, I have found a wonderful second home
in Early Music. Virgin Veritas has released a wonderful CD of the motets
and chansons of Josquin. The chord progressions of works such as "Absalon
fili mi" are worthy of Schreker. I want more. Hyperion has reissued two
recordings at mid-price: Hildegard's "A feather on the Breath of God," and
Monteverdi's Sacred Songs; both w/Kirkby. Must haves?
