I think the set is great...  there are a few specific quartets that don't
quite make it to the top...  but they have an enormous number of top
reviews...  and are some of Naxos' biggest sellers...  of any of their
quartet releases.

Don Satz, on the other hand, didn't find them nearly wonderful in a
recent review.

Certainly for the price ($135 or so, as I recall) this is a very nice
package for people who have to have them all.  Naxos also markets them in
four CD sets.  Some of the four CD sets get kudos.  Others don't.  I don't
know if it is still possible to get the Naxos catalog (1999 or 1998) which
summarized the positive reviews for each CD in the set.  It doesn't matter.
I don't think there are any losers.
