Don, Thanks for the survey.  I think, however, you've missed one of the
more significant explorations of this music:  the 2 CD set of Deutsch
Harmonia Mundi (DHM 05472 77387 2) distributed by BMG, performed by Hidemi
Suzuki.  He plays a very distinctive Amati instrument.
