Don Satz, puzzled:
>I don't quite know what fine connection there could be between
>his string quartets and driving around, but I find Dvorak's
>works perfect as an outlet for driving.
Dvorak was something of a train buff, so there might be some cosmic
connection, intended or otherwise. As one who doesn't drive, I can't
discern this parallel, but it's a thought, perhaps.
Don enthused of his DG set of the string quartets:
>It's great to have these wonderful compositions in one box, and I
>might just keep listening to the discs in the car for months into the
>future.
Such sets don't take up as much space, but what I *hate* about them is
that you can't remove the CD from its little paper sleeve without
putting your fingers all over the playing surface. Call me
old-fashioned and super-cautious, but I guess it's just a habit
ingrained from years of handling LPs not to leave fingerprints - or
tabasco sauce or whatever - on the music.
