I suggested that the two Hindemith works listed by Steve Schwartz were one
and the same. Eric Schissel tells me I'm wrong, and I copy con permeso:
>Nope- the Lustige Sinfonietta is a d minor work from 1916, his op. 4;
>the Sinfonietta in E was premiered in Louisville in 1950 under Hindemith's
>direction and, unlike the Lustige Sinfonietta, doesn't require a narrator.
>(I've heard the last movement of the Lustige once. Reminded me of Tubby
>the Tuba. Honest.) To my knowledge. The timings are also quite different-
>about 20 minutes for the Sinfonietta in E as against about 40 minutes for
>the Lustige Sinfonietta. This is if memory serves!!!
with apologies
