Do not go for any "complete" edition, because once you're not so new to
this all anymore, you're bound to become disappointed with some of the
interpretations that you've bought. Moreover, assuming that you have never
actually heard all of Mozart's work, you're bound to come across things you
may like less. As I said before amongst these ranks, I cannot think of any
valid reason (except maybe that you might think it looks highbrow in your
CD stand) to buy ANY complete edition just because it's complete.

Assuming again, you must have heard something by Mozart which you related
to particularly. Best to stick to that first and let things unfold
naturally (i.e. according to the state of adventurousness of your mind
and the health of your purse).

I think it's one of the big problems that people strive for completeness
in classical music instead of depth. Moreover, it may well be one of the
reasons for the current crisis in classical recording industry. And that's
where my Dutch compatriots from Brilliant Classics step in. Actually they
are also selling a kind of highlight box (40 CD's) of Mozart's oeuvre. I
hope I am not tempting anybody with this information.

regards, Jos
