The University of Arizona in Tucson has 24 hour classical music. The
announcers can properly pronounce any name of any composer or performer.
They have wonderful voices.
Yet they tell us nothing about each piece broadcast. Worse yet, they
follow that list of the 100 most popular classical works. Each time a
different orchestra or performer, but still the same old stuff over and
over. They claim that statistics show this top 100 works best... only
occasionally do they experiment with something new. The repetition has
become boring beyond boring... There is no creativity or any attempt at
new works or new looks at old works.
Most classical music fans I know listen on the internet or on their cable
or disc programs...
Someday Tucson will not have a classical music station because they do
little to encourage people to listen.
