Do you think that Wagner elicits such responses because he actively
promotes antisemitism in his music? While other composers were or are
antisemitic, nationalistic, or racist, most kept it seperate from their
music.  So, perhaps the reason people are "hysterical" about Wagner is
that his music promotes antisemitism.
