The Hanover Band picked the noun "band" because historically that was the
word used to describe ensembles during the 17th-18th centuries.  PO or
Orchestra was a later term.  Another word used was "Academy".  Hence "The
Academy of Ancient Music".  Or "Concert".  I think Kapelle is translated
roughly as "Band", so you will see references to the HofKapelle (Royal
Band).
