Marcus Maroney listed among many others:

>Geoffrado Petrassi Concerto for Orchestra 1953

Petrassi (Geoffredo!) wrote 8 concerti for orchestra. The first is from
1932, then he wrote 5 in the 5Os, another one in the 6ties and a final one
in 1972. Warner/Fonit just re-released 3 CD set (maybe only here in Italy)
with all the concerti! Very impressive music! A wide range of styles,
from a sort of Hindemith/Strawinski first up to the serial 7th and 8th
concerto. Another famous (?) Italian composer whose music is hardly heard
outside this country!

Is it now confirmed that Hindemith wrote the *first* concerto for orchestra?
