And speaking of Sinopoli, I heard his Mahler 1 on the radio last week.  It
features some of the quirkiest tempos I've ever heard in that work, some of
them effective, some not.  There were also several spots where the ensemble
didn't quite hold together, and the offstage trumpet fanfares were quite
muddled.
