The first Martinu I heard was his third piano concerto and I was
attracted to it because it sounded like Brahms, an opinion I've since
revised considerably, but in terms of my knowledge of CM at the time, it
sounded like Brahms. I'd be interested in why Steve chose Martinu to tape
- was it the jazz influences on his music or some other reason? Does your
brother-in-law relate to this or does he just like the music for itself?
