Yes.  Maybe.  I have read that he learned that style from Remenyi, but
Remenyi claimed that Brahms stole some of his melodies.  I am not sure
anyone knows whether or not at least some of the tunes were borrowed from
someplace.  Supposedly he may have looked through published collections of
"folk" music for ideas.  Others are considered original.  He published 2
sets, in or around 1869 and 1880.  They made him quite a lot of money.
Some were arranged by himself for orchestra, others by Dvorak.
